UCA is powered by a passionate team of volunteers who bring together a wide range of skills, experiences, and lived understanding of community life. From social care and youth work to technology, administration, and creative contributions, each team member plays a vital role in supporting the organisation’s mission.

Together, the team is committed to creating opportunities for young and older people, strengthening community connections, and promoting cultural pride and inclusion. Their shared values of collaboration, respect, and service are at the heart of everything UCA does in Cavan.

Rami Kelenda – Volunteer Community Engagement Officer 

Rami Kelenda is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Analytics and has a strong background in information technology and business. He holds a Level 7 qualification in Business and a Level 5 qualification in Information Technology, and is currently working in the IT field.

Rami brings valuable leadership experience from his four years of involvement in Simba Football, where he developed strong teamwork, discipline, and youth leadership skills.

As the Community Engagement Officer at the United Congolese Association (UCA), Rami plays an important role in connecting with the community, supporting youth initiatives, and contributing to programmes that promote inclusion and community development in Cavan.

Angela Sombete – Volunteer Secretary

Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and has a strong background in key working and social support. She has experience working with migrant communities and is passionate about supporting individuals in inclusive and empowering environments.

Angela brings valuable experience from her work in social settings, where she supports individuals and families and promotes wellbeing within diverse communities.

As the Volunteer Secretary at the United Congolese Association (UCA), Angela plays an important role in supporting the organisation’s administration, coordination, and communication. She contributes to the smooth running of activities and supports initiatives that promote inclusion and community development in Cavan.

Monica Kiliwa– Volunteer Treasurer

Monica Kiliwa holds a Level 7 degree in Biopharmaceutical Science. She combines her academic background with practical experience, bringing strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to her work.

She is actively involved in community activities, contributing as a Media Coordinator and communications support volunteer. She also has a creative talent for decoration and presentation, which she uses to support events and community initiatives.

As the Volunteer Treasurer of the United Congolese Association (UCA), Monica plays a key role in managing finances and supporting the organisation’s activities. She contributes to ensuring the smooth running of programmes that promote community engagement and inclusion in Cavan.

Sido Makaya – Volunteer Chairperson

Sido holds a Master’s degree in Business and has a strong background in community development, leadership, and social care. She has extensive experience supporting refugees, migrants, and disadvantaged communities, bringing a culturally sensitive and empowering approach to her work.

She has worked in roles including Community Officer, Community Development Officer, Social Care Worker, and Support Worker, and has served as a youth leader and volunteer with various organisations. Through this experience, she has developed strong skills in community engagement, advocacy, and supporting individuals and families.

As the Volunteer Chairperson of the United Congolese Association (UCA), Sido provides leadership and direction for the organisation. She oversees programmes and initiatives that promote integration, youth empowerment, and community engagement in Cavan.
